What's New in Set 4

Set 4 is in TestFlight now. It puts your day on your wrist, brings your calendar into Today without ever turning an event into a task, adds Siri capture, and rebuilds sync and the whole list layer for speed, tested against libraries of 5,000 tasks. A massive thank you to Alex and César for their thorough beta testing, thoughtful feature feedback, and detailed bug reports. Their input helped shape several of the improvements and new features included in this release. See the full changelog →

Set on Apple Watch

Today's plan on your wrist, in order, with your finish time under it. Tap to complete, reschedule from now, dictate a new task. It syncs through iCloud on its own, so it works with your iPhone out of range. Two complications and the running timer, mirrored live.

Add a Task with Siri

Say "Add a Set task" on your iPhone or your watch and it joins the end of today's plan. Set never opens. It is a Shortcuts action too, so it works from the Action button, Spotlight and automations. English only for now.

Your Calendar, in Today

Events from the calendars you choose appear in Today at their real times, as their own rows. They are never imported as tasks, so they cannot become duplicates. Reschedule fits your tasks into the gaps around them, and dragging steps around them too.

Events You Can Edit

Tap an event to change its title, time, length or notes, written straight to your calendar. Swipe a finished one away, or skip a meeting that is not happening and your tasks move up into the freed time.

Sync Asks First

Choose Import Only and Set reads your calendar and reminders without ever writing back, or choose Two-Way and it only writes back what you actually edited in Set. Deleting a project now asks what should happen to its reminders.

Lists Become Projects

Each Reminders list arrives as a project with a matching name and colour instead of everything landing in the Inbox. In Two-Way you can go the other way and give every project its own list.

Faster Everywhere

Lists render only what is on screen, drags move a local order and save once on release, and the sync engine moved off the main thread. Tested against 5,000 tasks and a 2,000-reminder sync. Launch no longer waits on any of it.

A Countdown in the Overview

Tap the Today overview to cycle your stats, your finish time, and a countdown of how long is left on whatever you are in the middle of, whether that is a task, a break or a meeting.

When Today Is Too Full

Star more than a day can hold and Today says so: the finish time turns orange with a "2h over" label and a banner counts what starts past your day end. One tap moves those tasks onto the days ahead. Nothing is shortened or deleted.

New Tasks, Your Way

Set a default length for tasks and for subtasks, and a default priority, or have priority follow whatever you last picked by hand. Every way of adding a task in the app uses them, from the + button to quick add to a Markdown import.

Import a Project from Markdown

Headings become the project and its stages, list items become tasks and subtasks, and durations and dates in the text are read out of it. Open a file, paste from the clipboard, review exactly what will be created, and undo the lot with one tap. Pro.

Links in Notes

A link button in the markdown toolbar wraps whatever you selected and drops the cursor straight into the address. With a URL already on the clipboard it is one tap.

Same Settings Everywhere

Around 130 preferences now travel with your iCloud account: date format, week start, day boundaries, sounds, swipe actions and every sync option. Your chosen calendars and reminder lists come too, matched by name.

A New Live Activity

Progress is a bar under the time now, not a ring, because iOS freezes anything the app draws once your screen sleeps. The bar keeps filling while the phone is asleep. The lock screen layout is new too, with your finish time behind a checkered flag.

A Quieter Tab Bar, Now Free

The icon-only tab bar and the minimal tab bar are no longer Pro, and icon-only is the new default. Set Pro works with Family Sharing too, so one subscription covers the household.

Version 3

Already in Set

Everything from the version 3 run: an interactive tutorial, AI list scanning, an app blocker, a ground-up sync overhaul, a distraction-free focus mode, Sort Mode, a draggable + button, and an optional overdue alarm. Big thanks to Emily, whose feedback and bug reports shaped so much of it.

Interactive Tutorial

A two-minute hands-on tour using practice tasks: rescue an overdue day, complete and reorder tasks, and try Sort Mode, focus mode, the timer, and stats, with a note at each stop on why it helps ADHD brains.

A Cleaner Open Task

Opening a task swaps the tab bar for a floating action bar (timer, star, move, delete, close). Pin notes or subtasks to the collapsed card, or Isolate a task for a view of just that one card.

Sort Mode

File a messy Inbox or project one decision at a time: pick what to set (project, stage, priority, duration, date) and tap through big options with nothing else on screen.

Drag the + Button

Pull the + button into your list to create a task exactly where you drop it, with a dotted line showing where it will land. Tap a stage header to aim every new task at that stage.

Overdue Alarm

Optional nagging for overrun tasks: the timer alarm repeats at an interval you choose until you complete or pause the task. Works in the background via notifications.

Focus Mode

Tap the empty space below your Today list, or the Today tab again, for a distraction-free view that hides everything but your tasks and start times. Rows go read-only. iPhone and iPad.

Quick-Add Bar on Mac

A persistent Add a task bar at the bottom of Today, every project, and the Inbox. It parses durations, dates, and times as you type, with quick priority and duration controls.

Auto-Simplify Timer

While a timer runs it collapses to just the countdown and task name. Pausing brings the controls back.

Clear Completed with a Swipe

Swipe any finished task in Today to log it, one at a time. Right-click and choose Log Task on Mac.

Scan Tasks from Image

Photograph a handwritten list, whiteboard, or screenshot and Set turns it into scheduled tasks, with Apple Intelligence on supported devices, smart parsing everywhere. Reads "10.15 - Jogging" and "(30 min)" the way you meant them. Pro.

App Blocker

Shield distracting apps while your timer runs, or until every task in Today is done. Turning it off means typing a focus sentence. iPhone & iPad, Pro.

AI Notes Rewriting

One tap turns messy notes into clean structured markdown, or a clear step-by-step checklist. On-device, always revertible. Pro.

Project & Inbox PDF Export

Export any project or your Inbox as a clean PDF: stages as sections, notes in full markdown styling with your colors, black & white printing option.

iCloud Sync Overhaul

Duplicates across devices are gone, deletions stick everywhere, and sync no longer resets your scheduled times or task order.

Undo & Redo

Press ⌘Z to undo and ⌘⇧Z to redo, covering adding, deleting, moving and editing tasks, across the whole app.

Planning Shouldn't Feel Like Work

Most task managers require constant mental math and manual adjustments. Set does it automatically.

Manual time planning is exhausting

Calculating when tasks will finish, adjusting for interruptions: it drains your energy before you even start.

Plans change, replanning is tedious

When something unexpected happens (and it always does), recalculating your entire schedule manually is overwhelming.

Hard to stay motivated

Without visible progress or achievements, it's difficult to maintain momentum and feel accomplished.

Why ADHD Minds Love Set

Ditch the mental arithmetic. Rebuild your schedule in one tap. Understand your productivity. Level up with achievements.

It's planning without the planning.

Why it works

Designed for how your brain actually works

Set wasn't built from a productivity textbook. It was built around real, distractible, time-blind brains, and a lot of its users (and its maker) have ADHD.

Time made visible

Time blindness means "three tasks" never feels like "my whole afternoon". Set turns every task into time on a timeline: you see when things start, finish, and when your day realistically ends. Overcommitting stops being a surprise.

Starting is the hard part

The flexible timer isn't a stopwatch judging you, it's a body double. Start it and the next right thing is already decided. Brown noise and focus tones give restless minds a floor to stand on.

No guilt, no confetti

Deliberately neutral: no streak-shaming, no "you're almost there!!". Completed tasks tick off quietly; unfinished ones roll forward without commentary. A system you can return to after a bad week, without shame.

Friction where it helps

Adding a task is instant: type "gym at 6pm 45m" and it's scheduled. But switching off the App Blocker mid-wobble takes typing a sentence about your goals. Impulses are fast; typing is slow. That asymmetry is deliberate.
