Version 4.0
Coming Soon In TestFlightSet on Apple Watch, your calendar inside Today, Siri capture, and a sync engine rebuilt from the ground up. Faster everywhere: tested against libraries of 5,000 tasks. A massive thank you to Alex and César for their thorough beta testing, thoughtful feature feedback, and detailed bug reports. Their input helped shape several of the improvements and new features included in this release.
- • Set on Apple Watch: today's plan on your wrist, in order, with priority colours and your finish time. Tap to complete, reschedule from now, and change a duration. It syncs through iCloud on its own, so it works with your iPhone switched off or out of range.
- • Watch complications: Next Task (what is next, when it starts, how many are left, when the day ends) and Stats (done today, done this week, current streak), in rectangular, inline and circular sizes.
- • The timer on your wrist: the running iPhone timer mirrored live, with a project-coloured ring, pause, complete and stop. Your iPhone needs to be in range for the controls; the time keeps counting either way. It also appears in the Smart Stack as a proper watch card.
- • Capture by voice: tap + on the watch and dictate, or say "Add a Set task" to Siri on any device. The task joins the end of today's plan, durations like "15m" are read out of the sentence, and Set never has to open. Add Task is a Shortcuts action too, so it works from the Action button, Spotlight and automations. English only for now.
- • Your calendar, in Today: events from the calendars you choose now appear in Today as their own rows at their real times. They are never imported as tasks, so they cannot become duplicates and they never land in your Inbox. Reschedule fits your tasks into the gaps around them, and dragging a task steps around them too.
- • Tap an event to edit it: title, start time, duration and markdown notes, written straight to your calendar. Repeating events ask whether a change applies to that one occurrence or the whole series. Swipe a finished event to clear it, skip one that is not happening to free its slot, or delete it behind a confirmation.
- • Sync asks before it does anything, and asks the right question for each service. Nothing is imported from your calendar now, so it offers Show Only or Show & Add: whether Set writes your tasks there as events. Reminders really does run both ways, so it keeps Import Only and Two-Way. The setup sheet also lists exactly what Apple does not let either app carry across.
- • Convert an event to a task: long-press the meeting you want to time, break into subtasks or tick off yourself. The task takes the event over rather than copying it, so the event row goes and you never end up holding both, and with Show & Add on it moves to your Set calendar.
- • Finished events can clear themselves: as they end, or 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes or an hour after, so a meeting that overruns stays on screen while it does. Optionally sweep them whenever Set opens, and Reschedule always clears whatever is already past.
- • Import lists as projects: each Reminders list becomes a project with a matching name and colour instead of everything landing in the Inbox. In Two-Way you can go the other way and give every project its own Reminders list. Deleting a project now asks what should happen to its reminders, and the list it came from stops importing so the project cannot come back from the dead.
- • Choose where Set adds events: one Set calendar, one per priority, one per project in the project's colour, or any calendar of yours. Switching moves your existing Set events over.
- • Same settings everywhere: around 130 preferences now travel with your iCloud account, including date format, week start, day boundaries, sounds, swipe actions and every sync option. Which calendars and reminder lists you picked sync too, matched by name so each device resolves them against its own accounts.
- • Faster everywhere: lists render only what is on screen, typing commits when you finish rather than on every keystroke, drags move a local order and save once on release, and the whole sync engine moved off the main thread and works in batches. Tested against 5,000 tasks, a 2,000-reminder sync and 100 calendar events.
- • Opens straight away: launch no longer waits on migrations, duplicate cleanup and calendar sync. On a large library with Reminders connected that used to stall long enough for iOS to kill the app, which is what was behind reports of Set freezing at launch.
- • A countdown in the overview: tap the Today overview to cycle stats, your finish time, and a new countdown showing how long is left on whatever you are in the middle of, task, break or meeting.
- • When your day does not fit: star more than a day can hold and Today says so. The finish time turns orange with a "2h over" label, a banner counts the tasks starting past your day end, and one tap moves them onto the days ahead. Nothing is shortened or deleted.
- • New tasks, your way: set a default task duration, a default subtask duration, and a default priority, or have priority follow the last one you picked by hand. Every way of adding a task in the app uses them, from the + button to quick add to a Markdown import.
- • Import a Project from Markdown (Pro): headings become the project and its stages, list items become tasks and subtasks, and durations and dates in the text are parsed. Open a .md file from anywhere, paste from the clipboard, or pick one in Settings. A review step shows exactly what will be created, and one undo removes the lot.
- • Links in notes: a link button in the markdown toolbar wraps the text you selected and drops the cursor straight in the address slot. With a URL already on the clipboard it is one tap.
- • Email a list to anyone: Email to Self is now just Email, it takes several addresses separated by commas, and every email attaches a Markdown file alongside the PDF that the recipient can open in Set.
- • A redesigned Live Activity: progress is a linear bar under the time instead of a ring, so it keeps filling while your phone is asleep. A ring is drawn by the app, and iOS freezes anything the app draws a few seconds after the screen sleeps. The lock screen layout is new too, with the finish time behind a checkered flag.
- • The overdue alarm now repeats as often as every 5 seconds, with 17 of its own tones grouped into bowls and bells, clicks and pops, chimes and notes, and beeps and rings.
- • Free for everyone: the icon-only tab bar and the minimal tab bar are no longer Pro, and icon-only is now the default. Set Pro also works with Family Sharing, so one subscription covers the household.
- • A quieter, softer Set: one 20pt corner radius across the tab bar, cards, toasts and popups, no floating ghost card while you drag, and no green plus badge on drop targets. Dropping a task on a project shows a large plus in that project's colour instead.
- • A tour for the Mac: a 12-step walkthrough written for a window, plus first-run setup on the Mac, which never ran it before. The iPhone tour gains your week, typed durations, and adding tasks straight to a stage.
- • Fixes: starring a task could put it on the wrong day, adding a task near the bottom of a list could lose it, reminders were being rewritten when you had not edited them, sync kept running after a subscription ended, date-only reminders all imported at midnight, the badge and the Today overview disagreed, and dragging between stages could land a task a row off.
