Focus Mode
Distraction-Free Today
Focus Mode strips the Today view down to just your tasks and their start times, so nothing competes for your attention while you work through the day. It’s available on iPhone and iPad.
Entering Focus Mode
There are two ways in:
- Double-tap the empty space below your Today list
- Tap the Today tab again while you’re already on Today
Entering by tap is a double tap, so you can’t land in Focus Mode while reaching for the background. A single tap on that space dismisses whatever is open instead, a revealed swipe first, then an expanded card.
What It Hides
When Focus Mode is active, Set hides everything that isn’t essential:
- The overview section and the date strip
- The toolbar and the add button
- The tab bar
- Each task’s colour bar, duration, and other metadata
- Notes, unless you turn Show Notes in Focus Mode on
What’s left is a clean list of task titles and start times. Notes are the one thing you can choose to keep, with the setting described below.
Read-Only Rows
Rows become read-only, so a stray tap can’t open a card or start an edit.
- Tap a task to reveal its completion circle (tap again to hide it)
- Tap the circle to mark the task complete
Subtasks work the same way. Tap a completed task to hide it.
Rows keep their full height in Focus Mode. Focus strips what a row shows, not the space it occupies, so the tap targets stay exactly as easy to hit as they are in the normal Today view.
Estimated Finish Time
The estimated finish time shows at the bottom of the list, so you always know when the day’s work wraps up.
Leaving Focus Mode
Double-tap the background again, or tap the exit button at the bottom of the list.
Settings
Focus Mode is fine-tuned from Settings → Interface:
- Hide Completed in Focus Mode (default on): keeps finished tasks out of the list for a shorter view.
- Show Notes in Focus Mode (default off): keeps each task’s notes on screen while all the other metadata falls away. Turn it on when the notes are the thing you’re working from.
Hiding the status bar
The status bar toggles are gathered into one free Hide Status Bar group under Settings → Interface, rather than being scattered through Focus Mode and Timer. It has five rows:
| Row | What it hides the status bar in |
|---|---|
| Everywhere | The whole app |
| In Focus Mode | Focus Mode only |
| In Sort Mode | Sort Mode only |
| When Isolating a Task | An isolated single task |
| In Timer | The Timer only |
Turn Everywhere on and the four sub-rows are disabled, since they can’t add anything to it. The whole group is free, so the Focus Mode toggle is no longer behind Pro.
iPhone and iPad only
Focus Mode is designed for touch and is available on iPhone and iPad.
