Scan Tasks from Image

Turn Any List into Tasks (Pro)

Photograph or import any list and Set turns it into tasks. It works with:

  • Handwritten notes
  • Whiteboards
  • Printed lists
  • Screenshots

What It Reads

Set reads lists best when there is one task per line. It parses durations, dates, and times the way you write them, so a rough list becomes properly timed tasks:

  • 45m sets a 45 minute duration
  • (30 min) sets a 30 minute duration
  • A duration alone on the line below a task attaches to that task
  • tomorrow schedules the task for tomorrow
  • 10.15 - Jogging sets a 10:15 start time for a task called “Jogging”
  • [x] Done item is recognised as already complete and left out

On-Device Intelligence

On supported devices an on-device Apple Intelligence model extracts your tasks, and nothing leaves your device. That means an iPhone 15 Pro or later or an M-series Mac, running iOS or macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence enabled.

Everywhere else, Set’s own smart parsing takes over automatically, so scanning works across the lineup.

Review Before Anything Is Added

Nothing is created until you confirm. The review screen lets you:

  • Edit titles, durations, and priorities
  • Untick any lines you don’t want
  • Choose a project for the new tasks
  • Add them straight to Today

Where to Find It

Scan Tasks lives in the Today and project toolbars.

On Mac

On Mac you have three ways to bring in an image:

  • Drag an image in
  • Paste one
  • Use the file picker

Other Ways to Capture Without Typing

Scanning is one of three routes into Set that skip the keyboard:

  • Import a Project from Markdown (Pro) is the other bulk route. If your list is already text rather than a photograph, importing it keeps stages, subtasks and notes intact instead of flattening everything into a task list.
  • Siri and the Apple Watch are the no-typing route for one task at a time. Say “Add a Set task”, or tap the + on the watch and dictate, and it joins today’s plan with any duration you said parsed out of the sentence.

Free vs Pro

Scan Tasks from Image is a Pro feature.
